It won’t often be seen as the funnest game in the realm of wagering, but keno has huge amounts of devoted admirers. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a constantly entertaining lottery-esque game that’s easy to play, readily available in a number of assorted formats, and one that might pay out mega-dollars for players who master its endless subtle nuances. But let’s deal with the basics here.

When describing keno to newbies, some gambling experts compare it to bingo. This is at least nearly correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far might be to underrate the great many unique traits that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno users have the ability to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the user is given an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he wants. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a normalball point pen like you had when you were a kid.

After you have marked your numbers, take your game card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The clerk will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not drop this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and wants help out, without a winning ticket on you, you will win exactly $.00 for your winning card.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let us go on to something a little bit more complex, shall we?

Once you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfortable keno booth and see the action happen on the screen. This is where the winning numbers are displayed for us. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to collect your winnings, as a new drawing will probably begin within 5 minutes.

Strategy #2: always make it back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty cards. When the max amount of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is completed, you will then be able to get off your lazy butt and go collect your winnings.

Still another option is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally allows you make number choices for thirty keno games or more. Heck, you can take vacation to France and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after you by it!

So now you have learned several indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are an experienced player, they might seem stupidly obvious. But it will not hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner user, every little bit of direction will help make your keno playing more fun.
