Keno was first played in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military commander, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a finance resource for his failing forces. The city of Cheung was waging a battle, and after a bit of war time appeared to be looking at a country wide shortage of food with the excessive drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to create a rapid fix for the economic disaster and to produce income for his army. He, as it follows created the game we know today as keno and it was a great success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger locations to the smaller villages. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the US in the 19th century by Chinese expatriates who came to the United States to jobs. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is regularly played with just 80 numbers in most of the US based casinos along with web casinos. Keno is commonly loved today because of the laid back nature of betting the game and the basic reality that there are little skills needed to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of coming away with a win are horrible, there is always the chance that you could hit quite large with little gambling investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers with 20 numbers selected each game. Enthusiasts of Keno can pick from two to 10 numbers and bet on them, as much or as little as they want to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the wagers made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno grew in acceptance in the US near the close of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gambling in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the notion that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that levied a tax on off track wagering, Nevada casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
