Keno was introduced in two hundred BC by the Chinese army commander, Cheung Leung who utilized keno as a monetary resource for his declining forces. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of time seemed to be looking at a country wide shortage of food with the dramatic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to create a rapid fix for the financial adversity and to create income for his army. He thusly created the game we now know as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno once was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger locations to the smaller villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the United States in the 19th century by Chinese migrants who migrated to the US to work. In those times, Keno was played with 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is typically gambled on with just 80 numbers in almost all of the US land based casinos along with internet casinos. Keno is largely played today because of the laid back nature of playing the game and the simple reality that there are no skills needed to enjoy Keno. Despite the reality that the chances of coming away with a win are horrible, there is always the possibility that you will win quite large with little gaming investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers and 20 numbers are picked each game. Gamblers of Keno can choose from two to 10 numbers and gamble on them, as much or as little as they want to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in popularity in the United States since the close of the 1800’s when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, American numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the laws of gambling in Nevada State in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the notion that the numbers are horses and you are wanting your horses to place. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track gambling, the casinos swiftly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
