It might not commonly be considered the most lucrative game in the arena of betting, but keno has huge amounts of steadfast enthusiasts. As well it should! It’s a consistently thrilling lotto-type game that’s easy to learn, readily available in a number of different styles, and one that will return mega-dollars for people who learn its endless subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basics for now.
When defining keno to novices, some wagering connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least partly apt, in that both games are generally numerical. But to take that comparison too far will be to misunderstand the countless unique aspect that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno enthusiasts have the power to pick the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the player is furnished with an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she feels they need. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your chosen numbers with a normalmarker like you used when you were in school.
After you have selected your numbers, carry your card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and wants help out, without a winning receipt on you, you will get exactly $.00 for your actions.
So, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let us move on to something a bit more advanced, ok?
Once you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and observe the action happen on the keno monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear for all to see. If you have winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, since a new round of keno will almost certainly begin within not too many minutes.
Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you can’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline every time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the max amount of games (the same as the amount of tickets) is played, you are then able to get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.
Another choice is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly lets you make number picks for 30 games or more. Golly, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
And now you have learned a number of necessary techniques for winning keno. If you are a skillful keno player, they may seem to be quite obvious. However, it doesn’t hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner keno player, every little bit of advice will help make your keno playing more agreeable.
