It may not usually be seen as the most fun game in the arena of gaming, but keno has loads of passionate admirers. And so it should! It’s a constantly exciting lotto-type game that’s a breeze to play, readily available in many different variations, and one that may pay out millions of dollars for players who learn its many subtle intricacies. But let’s begin with the basic rules here.
When describing keno to newbies, some gambling masters compare it to the lottery. This is at least tolerably apt, in that each game is basically numerical. And it doesn’t take a super genius to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a good oldball point pen like you used when you were in school.
Now that you’ve selected your numbers, carry the keno card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will be given precisely $.00 for your efforts.
Ok, there you have strategy number one: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us go on to something a little bit more useful, yes?
Now that you’ve picked your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on a monitor. This is where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you have winners, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to drag your feet, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, since a new keno game will most likely start up within 5 minutes.
Strategy number 2: always get back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you don’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to 20 slips. When the maximum amount of games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played, you may then get off your lazy rump and go retrieve your winnings.
Another opportunity is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually lets you make number picks for 30 keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" tickets are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!
