It might not usually be considered the most fun game in the arena of gaming, but keno has massive amounts of devoted followers. As well it should! It’s a regularly thrilling lottery-type game that’s a snap to master, abundantly available in many assorted variations, and one that can pay out mega-dollars for those who learn its limitless subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the basic facts here.
When defining keno to novices, some wagering connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least to some extent correct, in that both games are essentially numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far can be to devalue the endless unique aspect that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno players have the ability to pick the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the user is accord an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as numerous (or as few) numbers as he needs. And it doesn’t take a super genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a standard#2 pencil like you had when you were a kid.
After you have marked your numbers, take your game card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The nice person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not drop this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your mug and wants help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will get precisely $.00 for your winning card.
So, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let’s go on to something a bit more complicated, yes?
After you’ve selected your numbers, get yourself into a nice keno booth and watch the action take place on the screen. That is where the winning numbers appear for us. If you checked winners, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You are required to get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and a new round of keno will likely get going within 5 minutes.
Strategy #2: always get back to the keno stand on time!
Since you don’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 cards. When the max number of games (matching the amount of tickets) is completed, you are then able to get off your lazy butt and go get your winnings.
Another opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly lets you make number choices for 30 games or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to worry about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!
So now you know a couple of indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are a good player, they might appear to be very obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a novice user, every little bit of direction will help make your keno playing more agreeable.
